Abstract

This study investigates students’ perceptions of using Instagram Reels for learning English vocabulary at SMAN 5 Palu. In the digital era, social media platforms have become popular tools that can support language learning, including vocabulary development. However, there is still limited understanding of how students perceive the use of Instagram Reels as a learning medium in the classroom context. Therefore, this study aimed to describe students’ perceptions of the usefulness, engagement, and effectiveness of Instagram Reels in vocabulary learning. This research employed a quantitative descriptive design and involved 30 senior high school students as the respondents. The data were collected through a questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings showed that most students had positive perceptions toward the use of Instagram Reels, especially in helping them understand new words, improve pronunciation, and increase motivation in learning English vocabulary. In conclusion, Instagram Reels can be considered a useful and engaging medium for vocabulary learning.
