Analysis of the Implementation of Malay Oral Tradition in Indonesian Language Learning for Students' Character Building at SMPTK Kasih Karunia: Language Variation and Language Change
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the implementation of Malay oral traditions in Indonesian language learning and their role in character building of students at SMPTK Kasih Karunia. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques in the form of interviews with Indonesian language teachers. The results of the study indicate that Malay oral traditions, especially in the form of poetry, have been implemented in learning through teaching modules and lesson plans on ancient poetry material. The use of poetry helps students understand the structure of poetry and instills religious, moral, and social values. Students' responses to this learning show high enthusiasm because the material used is close to their culture. However, the implementation of Malay oral traditions has not been formally integrated into the curriculum and still relies on teacher initiative. Thus, Malay oral traditions have great potential as a contextual and effective learning medium in character building of students, although it still requires more systematic development.
